Full Itinerary for Lebanon Adventure

Day 1: Fly into Beirut

With most clients choosing to arrive on an evening flight, we offer a transfer from the international airport to the start hotel to check in to your room for a refreshing nights sleep, ready for the start of your adventure!

Day 2: Tour of Beirut

Meeting your local guide first thing this morning, we will begin our afternoon tour of this vibrant city including the Green Line, the National Museum displaying the famous Phoenician gilded bronze figurines buried near Byblos, Mohammad Al Amin Mosque, ancient churches and Roman Baths before experiencing the nightlife!

Day 3: Explore Sidon and Tyre

We drive out from the coastal city up into the mountains to Sidon (aka Saida), an ancient city set amongst citrus and banana groves. We walk through the souks before continuing to Tyre with it’s archaeological sites and Fishermans port.

Day 4: Jezzine and Beit el Din Palace

Jezzine is a popular summer retreat and has a holiday feel.  We enjoy lunch here before visiting Niha castle and staying in Auberge Kheribe, a beautiful, old, traditional Lebanese House.

Day 5: Wine tasting in the Bequaa Valley

In the morning we will take a short walk in Masar el Chouf before driving to the stunning Chateau Kefraya to visit it’s vineyard with wine tasting.  We will spend the night in the beautiful nearby mountain town of Zahle, admiring its architecture and sophisticated nightspots.

Day 6: Visit the ruins of Baalbek

We spend the morning in Anjar before visiting the incredible Roman ruins at Baalbek.  In Greek and Roman times it was called Heliopolis; The City of the Sun.  The complex includes two huge and very grand Roman ruins, the Temple of Bacchus and the Temple of Jupiter; the most significant outside of Italy.

Day 7: Discover the Qadisha Valley

We admire the church of the picturesque mountain town of Bcharre before taking a walk in arguably Lebanon’s most famous cedar forest, and heading down into the Qadisha Valley to visit St Ellijah Hermitage. We will sleep in Auberge Hadas el Jibeh which boasts one of the best views in the entire country.

Day 8: Explore further, this beautiful region.

We have another day to explore the Qadisha Valley at our leisure; visiting Our Lady Cannobine Monastery before lunch in Abu Joseph Restaurant and a short walk along this section of the LMT for a couple of hours before sleeping in St Antonio’s Monastery.

Day 9: Enjoy Byblos & dinner in Beirut

Heading back down to the coast, we stop in the picturesque port of Byblos – the oldest continuously inhabited town in the world.  We visit the Old Souk and Citadel before driving back to Beirut, where we head to the Jeita Grotto; a system of interconnected karstic limestone caves spanning nearly nine kilometres, housing the world’s largest known stalactite – one of the world’s great natural wonders!  After exploring these together we will embark on our final group dinner in the city and a night on the town!

Day 10: Fly out of Beirut

In a country where French, Arabic and English can be heard in a single sentence and a multitude of faiths reside, history emanates from every stone: The costal village of Byblos (جبيل ‘Jbeil’ in Arabic) is the oldest continuously-inhabited town in the world; the Roman temples at Baalbek are some of the grandest ever built; Lebanon is mentioned 71 times in the Bible; with rule having passed through the hands of Arab Caliphates, Crusaders, Mamluks, Ottomans and more.

Lebanon really does have it all – but perhaps nothing surpasses the openness, charm, glamour and friendliness of its people. Experience this enchanting destination with like-minded fellow travellers, with the assurance that you will find a unique and varied culture quite unlike any you have seen before.
